Re: Barnes Reloader guide help.

What calibre and cartridge? You talking 30 cal....308 Winchester...just a wild guess.....

Hodgdon has an online data:

http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp

308 Win, 150 grain NOSLER BT, Varget: 43 grains = 43,300 CUP, 47 grains = 50,300 CUP

So, that compares to your load range......if that is the cartridge you are loading.....

I don't like to deviate from tested loads too much....but I will often cross reference/compare to other known and tested loads that have similar characteristics.

Example: Can you find same caliber using Varget and another manufacturers 150 grain bullet or close construction.

I do that all the time and if I get several confirmations...I think it is pretty safe. Have to use own judgement and double checks....I even cross ref/double check published loads to make sure they did not mis-print. Can't be too careful when making 50,000 psi rifle loads.

I collect every old reloading book I can find for reference.....just got to be careful if manufactures change component performance over the years.
